small, unworthy, belly to the earth
is how i began my journey

bumps along the forest's trails
provided me with wisdom

i turned within for strength
reached upward for guidance
sought love in all i met

emerging from my cocoon
full of color, light and knowledge

butterfly i am with wings to soar to
the highest of my soul's potential

I wrote this poem several years ago as tribute to the Goddesses to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the Goddess Gathering. Here we are five years later and my soul wanted to share this message with all of you again.

We women are butterflies. Some of us are fully formed and some of us are still in our cocoon - transitioning into the beautiful woman that was always there. Be patient with your transformation. Allow yourself to fully immerse in the life of it so as to allow the death of it and the subsequent rebirth of your TRUE self.

Women go through it all so well. We do happy well and we do sad well. Our spirits are created with the ability to feel. Know that. Don't begrudge your SELF the gift of rebirth. Because that's what pain, both physical and emotional, is. A rebirth of you. And this YOU couldn't be reborn; wiser, stronger, and more fully expressed, had you not gone through whatever bumps in the road you came across.

Love yourself through it all. Be gentle with yourself. Whisper soft words of encouragement to your "inner little girl" as she tries to navigate her way through life. Guide her with the truth of who you are - A Butterfly.
