Once a month, I will feature a woman, historical or modern day, who exemplifies what it means to be an empowered woman in her own unique way. Her story will inspire and guide you as you learn to unearth your own inner Goddess.
Want to share another empowered woman's story? Please submit your Goddess Spotlight nomination by clicking on the link on this page.
Lisette is who I want to be when I grow up. Seriously. This woman is the whole package. Beauty. Brains. Talent. Passion. Compassion. The list goes on and on. I have personally learned so much from her and am blessed to call her my friend. Read on and I hope that she'll move you the way that she continues to move me.Tomiko

1. Name one word that describes you.
Believer
2. What advice would you give to women on how to become empowered?
Know that there is only one you in the world, which makes you special and perfect in every way. Follow your heart and always be clear about what you want and the world is yours...
3. What is the most challenging obstacle you've overcome and how?
Years ago, I was overworking myself tremendously and on the set of a very important job became very ill and had to be admitted to the hospital. I stayed there for about 1 month and had to be in bed for close to 2 more weeks afterward. I had completely ran myself into the ground and suffered from major dehydration and exhaustion. I couldn't work for a long period and had to get myself together and recover...physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. I became addicted to work and lost myself in the process. Now, I make time for ME...balance is key and through that experience I realized that one needs to really take care of herself to achieve balance and greatness. Hard work pays off, but that experience made me appreciate my body, my mind and my life alot more...
4. Name one woman that inspires you and why.
Three way tie: Bette Midler, Madonna and Oprah. All three inspire me because they are powerful, smart leaders who never conformed and created their world and have continued to make it exciting.
5. What is your motto?
Life is change, growth is optional...choose wisely
6. What advice would you give "3 year old you"?
Keep dancing! Keep singing! Keep laughing! Have fun!
7. What does "Empowered" mean to you?
Empowered means for me, owning every bit of myself! Really being able to be strong and stand in what I believe in. Following the dreams that I have and no matter what people say, and know whatever life brings my way is a gift or a lesson I can grow from. Being in control of my destiny and choosing the people, places and things that are in alignment with who I am. Embracing my inner and outer being...
8. How has being in The Goddess Gathering affected your life?
It's been a place where I feel supported in such a fantastic way. Being surrounded by a real, beautiful, and strong group of women has inspired me to be all I can, even when I have doubts. I have a support system that is unmatched and brings huge positivity into my world. Also, I can be available for others and contribute to their lives as much as they do mine. Thanks ladies!!!!!! Love you all!
9. Share one thing you are hoping to accomplish in your lifetime.
I look forward to opening my own school of the arts for children. An environment where they learn music, dance, acting and other aspects of free expression. I want to nurture and support children in their free expression....can't wait!
10. What are you most proud of yourself about?
I'm most proud of myself for always following my dreams and not letting any circumstance or person tell me that I can't. For staying strong through life's obstacles and always being a believer.

She was an inspiration to me as you are too. I just found your site today and I am happy that I have. I suffer from ongoing depression so it's hard for me to find continous passion in anything at this point. Right now my desire is to find better treatment for myself and come out from under this cloud, find my hearts desires and stick with them. Thank you Tomiko.
