For Tracie...
Ha! This sounds like me at the last Gathering. I've been at my job for 11 months and honestly when I think about how much I fuss about stupid people, I feel little stupid myself. It took me a while honestly. I felt justified and RIGHT. I didn't want to deal with people at my job who refused to try to help themselves instead of contacting me for the QUICK answer. I was tired of calling and following up with people to get the data I needed that was holding up mountains of work on my end.
One day last week I just decided to stop it. It was taking me more energy to hate the stupid people than to actually try to be helpful; perish the thought. It was a challenge at first, believe me. I had one caller ask me the cost of tuition. After I told him and showed him where to find the information online, he asked me at least two other times the same question but in a different way. Finally I said, "Sir, the cost of tuition will be the same each time you ask me." I mean really. One thing I learned, through working with people especially students, is we all at some point didn't know something about something. I LEARNED how to be resourceful. I didn't just wake up and suddenly know how to do all the things I can today. I'm sure at some point in my life I was that student, that customer, that stupid person. And someone had to help me. I didn't always get the nicest person but boy when I did find someone who was helpful and resourceful, I was so grateful and felt better about not KNOWING.
About a month ago I was online paying a bill. I couldn't find the link I needed but I knew it was there because I had used the website before. I called customer service, got transferred 3 time and was on hold for 6 1/2 minutes. Finally when the rep. came to the line I was angry, thinking they changed the site without telling me. I explained the problem and when he politely said, "scroll down", I felt so silly I just wanted to hang up the phone. I must have looked at it ten times and didn't even realize it was right in my face the entire time. Now I'm not sure what he had to say about me when he hung up the phone but while he was helping me he was the kindest, most patient person I had spoken to all day.
So I say all that to make this point; be patient with yourself and with others. Changing jobs in this economy may not be the best thing. And who knows, you may jump out of the skillet just to find yourself sizzling in a frying pan. Find what you do like about your job and if there is nothing then make it up. Communicate what you need from your supervisor and colleagues to be successful and happy in your current environment. You never know, you just might get it. I DID!
Happily,
Ailia

I know I haven't written in awhile been quite busy lately. The question I wanted to ask is "Do you ever in the goddess gathering anyone ever bring up there jobs and sometimes wonder why we have to deal with inmature people especially at work"? I know they are everywhere but lately I've been feeling like the devil is just weighing on my shoulders right now and testing me day after day. At times feel like just leaving my job but I've never left a job without having another lined up and I have no place to go it's not like I can go home to my parents because they are no longer living. I am thinking of applying for part-time positions and just pacing myself slowing down a little bit more at least until I finish school. Oh I forgot to tell you I have went back to school for my MBA in HR at Strayer University.
Dear Tracie,
It's nice to hear from you. I'm sorry to hear that your job is causing you stress right now.
Since it sounds like you aren't in a position to leave your job, I suggest you "create" the environment you'd like to exist. By that I mean, it's up to you how things affect you. While you cannot control the behavior of others, you CAN control how it affects you. It may take practice, but you can develop a "shield of light" that cannot be dimmed by any person or situation.
Choose happiness in the midst of chaos. Choose truth in the midst of uncertainty. Choose your light in the midst of darkness.
Again, it is up to YOU how "negative" people and behavior affects you. YOU are in control.
Blessings to you and congrats on going back to school. That's the way to create the existence you desire. Keep up the great work! : )

Hello Ms. Tomiko, or should I say Mrs. Tomiko! I just want to thank you for all of support and encouragement I have received from you as well as the Goddesses. Saturday's Gathering really helped me to open my eyes to let my inside shine through. I am a work in progress and it surely won't happen over night, but I'm positive and hopeful that I can accomplish my goals. The homework assignment of looking in the mirror at myself for at least 3 minutes has been working out great for me. It's only day 2 but when I look at myself in the morning and let my inside shine through, I feel confident, strong, beautiful, sexy, and so on and so on! Like I said it's only been day 2 and I will keep it up until it becomes natural.
Thanks for the Support and Love!!!
Margot

Goddess Greetings Tomiko,
Thank you for your inspirational 'vehicle' to carry women from the dark to the light, thus giving us all hope, happiness, confidence and support. I just wanted to know if your Goddess venture was a 'One Woman Show?'
The reason I am asking this question is that I co-hosted a 40th birthday party for my daughter over a year ago. She was in a terrible state of depression and needed a major uplifting. Her best girlfriend, who was the co-hostess, told everyone that it was a Goddess Party. Everyone was so excited and calls kept coming in, asking what a Goddess Party was. I was at a lost myself, but in my 'do or die' commitment to the theme, I did some research on Goddesses. What I came up with to do at her party, ended up being just what the doctor ordered my daughter AND for these women...and the 4 men in attendance, who became honorary Gods, and got the supreme privilege to 'serve' us for the day! Their broad smiles were priceless!
I've said all of that to say that, I have been inspired to continue doing Goddess Parties and Goddess-Esteem building. The people in attendance talked about that event for months afterwards. I would love to know if you train Goddess Gathering Facilitators for the upcoming various cities that you'll be expanding in. I am a life & wellness coach and have lots of experience with and love for, working with women's groups. I find your website to be amazing! I really feel Goddess Empowerment to be a calling of mine as well.
I live in the Atlanta, Georgia area. What are your plans for this area? I applaud you and the extremely powerful work you have done to promote self-esteem and support for ALL women. Goddess Bless You!
Respectfully,
Star Waters

Dear Star,
What an amazing mother you are! Your daughter is truly blessed to have you as her mother. It sounds like her 40th birthday Goddess party was not only a gift for her, but for everyone involved. Good for you!
Your question is so timely, it actually scared me (in a good way). Moments before reading your question, I was talking to my Gathering Coordinator that I need to develop a Training Curriculum for other women around the country that are interested in facilitating Goddess Gatherings. We both gasped when we read your message! : ) There is no such thing as a coincedence in my book. Everything happens in divine time.
So, the answer is YES. I will be training women around the country to facilitate Goddess Gatherings. I am in the development phase of that, but will definitely keep you posted. In the meantime, we have begun taking the Goddess Gathering on the road. I'm currently in Washington, DC where we held the first Goddess Gathering here yesterday (3/1/09). It was an amazing Gathering and the women were excited about establishing a Goddess Group here.
We've already received requests from Atlanta, New York, and Detroit to host Gatherings. We're working out a schedule and will post it on the website and newsletter, so stay tuned. In the meantime, please continue to visit the site and read the newsletter.
Continued blessings to you and yours. Keep Shining!

Thanks I will try that and I am looking forward to attending one your gatherings in the near future. I just wish I had know about this a couple of years ago when I was in California for maybe things would have turned a little differently than they did. But, you know that saying that people are brought into your life for a reason I'm starting to believe that is true. Maybe there was a reason I wasn't suppose to be in California that last time given the circumstances. I apologise for the messy typing.
Again thanks for responding to my msg.
Tracie Sawyer
Thank YOU, Tracie! Stay strong and trust that this, too, shall pass.

Love your new website.
Is the goddess gathering for just couples or can it be for single women also that are trying find that empowerment that they once had?
In these gatherings does any one ever discuss how they are feeling overwhelmed sometimes with everything and feel like they are doing what they can do but doesn't feel like it is good enough?
Thanks for your questions, Tracie. The Gatherings are for women only. We do host co-ed Gatherings twice a year where men are invited to join us.
We cover a variety of topics at our Gatherings. Feelings of being overwhelmed and how to handle those feelings are definitely discussed. I hope you'll have the opportunity to attend one of our Gatherings in the near future.
Breathe and be gentle with yourself. You will see yourself through whatever you're facing right now.
